With the latest firmware update for our CAN-USB adapter, CAN-USB/3-FD, a so-called DAR feature (Disabled Automatic Retransmission) has been integrated, also known as "Single Shot".
The DAR mode allows users to disable the automatic repetition of messages which are provided by default in the CAN bus in the event of transmission errors or arbitration loss. This option is a key advantage for security and time-critical applications.
The esdACC (esd Advanced CAN Controller), which has been supporting this feature for some time now, has underwent continuous development and improvement by esd electronics for around 15 years. It is used, for example, in the CAN interface cards of the 402 family and enables the user to make DAR settings not only globally, but also on a frame-by-frame basis. This allows a particularly precise control of CAN communication, which is of major importance in many industrial applications.
Thanks to the new firmware extension, users of the CAN-USB/3-FD can now enjoy the advantages of the Single Shot/DAR feature. The firmware update is readily available for download and is compatible with all existing CAN-USB/3-FD.
