With firmware release FW 1.0.6, the automatic baud rate detection of the EtherCAN/3-FD has been extended from CAN CC to CAN FD. The device can now automatically detect both the arbitration phase baud rate and the data phase baud rate used in CAN FD communication.
Detection is performed in the CAN controller’s listen-only mode, meaning the device does not actively participate in bus traffic. Predefined baud-rate combinations from an internal table are configured sequentially, while received CAN CC and CAN FD frames are analyzed. If valid frames are detected within a defined time window, the corresponding baud-rate combination is considered identified. During this process, no ACKs or error frames are transmitted.
