Our proven CAN-PCIe/402-2-FD interface is now also available with a state-of-the-art CAN-SIC transceiver. The CAN-SIC transceivers (Controller Area Network with Signal Improvement Capability) are more modern and can achieve higher data transmission rates compared to conventional CAN transceivers, especially in complex networks. With CAN FD, data can be transmitted in certain phases at a speed of more than 1 Mbit/s, whereby the maximum achievable transmission rate depends largely on the cable length and the network topology as well as the cables and connectors used.
When using conventional high-speed transceivers (HS-CAN) in more complex networks or with longer connections, communication errors can occur due to signal interference that hinders data transmission. This interference occurs when the signal fluctuates too much and the devices cannot recognize the data correctly. The transceivers used in this interface have further improved symmetry properties and are specially designed to minimize these problems. They actively improve the signal at critical moments, resulting in more stable and faster data transmission, even in complex network structures with speeds of up to 8 Mbit/s. This makes the SIC transceiver particularly interesting for use in automotive applications.
The SIC transceivers are specified by CAN in Automation and are downwards compatible with CAN classic applications, which means that the CAN-PCIe/402-2-FD-SIC can be easily integrated into existing applications.
