PROFINET® and CAN easily connected
The fieldbus gateway enables a fast and reliable connection of PROFINET® IO controllers with a CAN FD or CAN network. The module acts as a PROFINET® IO device with a maximum data transfer of 1440 bytes of input data and 1440 bytes of output data each.
Applications
The CAN-PN/2(-FD) connects CAN FD and Classic CAN devices with applications e.g. on a SIMATIC-S7 or other controllers. Up to 512 static CAN send or receive frames can be configured and processed as modules. In addition, any number of dynamic CAN frames can be sent and received via Record Data Objects. The transmission of the CAN frames can be configured cyclically or also triggered by new data.
Physical Interfaces
The ISO 11898-2 compatible CAN interface allows a maximum data transfer rate of 1 MBit/s with Classic CAN or up to 8 MBit/s with CAN FD. The 100BASE-TX PROFINET® IO interface is compatible with IEEE802.3 and allows a data transfer rate of 100 Mbps. Both the PROFINET® IO and the CAN interface are galvanically isolated from the rest of the circuit.
Easy configuration and extensive debugging options
A live view of the CAN bus on a Windows PC is possible via the integrated USB interface with the free CANreal tool. This allows configuration errors to be found easily and quickly. In addition, it is possible to display the CAN statistics data on the utilization of the CAN bus in CANreal or directly in the PLC.
